SMC Sleep Center

If you have trouble falling (or staying) asleep - or sleep like a log and still wake up feeling tired - you may be one of the estimated 50 million Americans who suffer from a sleep disorder.

But don't despair: help is available at the SMC Sleep Center. Located in the hospital, the Sleep Center offers the latest in technology - together with a board-certified sleep expert - to not only help diagnose your sleep disorder, but also to help treat it.

If you suffer from insomnia, narcolepsy, sleep apnea, or another disorder, rest easy: our patient-centered approach can provide you with the help you need - when it's convenient for you - in a warm, comfortable center that's close to home.

BUT . . . you may be one of those people who absolutely cannot sleep in any bed but their own. Don't despair! We may be able to do the sleep study in your own home! A home sleep test is the same as an in-hospital sleep study except that it is done in YOUR home: no one needs to stay overnight, no cameras, go to bed when you're ready, get up when you wish. You get to sleep in your own bed as you normally do. Go to bed at your normal bed time and get up at your normal time. You can get up to go to the bathroom without difficulty or having to unplug anything. The dog stays (just don't let her chew the wires). Bed partners stay as well.

A pulmonary sleep specialist interprets the studies and a registered sleep technologist oversees the testing procedures. Study results are generated and scored at the Sleep Center.

Whether in our beautiful sleep lab or in your own home -- we want to provide you with the sleep study that is the most convenient and comfortable for you.

We've all had restless nights. But when symptoms continue, it's time to get help. Talk to your physician or call the SMC Sleep Center for more information.
