We also offer certified breast feeding education, childbirth preparation classes, contraceptive counseling and prenatal education.
The Women's Health Center at Shenandoah Medical Center is equipped with two operating rooms and an endoscopic center, accommodating surgeries performed by our general surgeon and our OB/GYN surgical specialist. Additionally, visiting surgeons provide care to women in Shenandoah. The visiting surgeons offer expertise in specialty areas, such as: Urology; Orthopedics; Ear, Nose and Throat; Gastroenterology; Optometric Services.

Meet Our Women's Health Experts
Martee MacLeod-Kozal, MD, FACOG | OB-GYN
Dr. MacLeod-Kozal is a Nebraska native, born in Valentine and raised on
a cattle ranch nearby. She attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska where she
graduated summa cum laude in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Honors Biology
and minor in Spanish. She went on to attend medical school at Oregon Health and
Science University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. MacLeod-Kozal then moved to Kansas
City where she did her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the
University of Missouri Kansas City. She completed her residency training in
June of 2012 and was honored to receive the Eugene W. J. Pearce Award for an
outstanding resident with characteristics similar to Dr. Pearce including
honesty, humility, and competence. Dr. MacLeod-Kozal also received the James P.
Youngblood Award for best resident teacher, the Saint Luke's Hospital
Outstanding Resident Award, and the Award for Best Clinical Research Project
for a study looking at IUD removal rates.
Scott King, MD, FACS, FACOG | OB-GYN
Dr. King, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. He completed a four-year residency specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Scott and White Memorial Hospital at the Texas A&M University School of Medicine in Temple TX, and served as Chief Resident the final year. Dr. King is board certified. Before coming to Iowa, he operated private practices in Texas and Michigan. He also served as a full-time faculty member at Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine.
Michael Woods, MD, FACOG | OB-GYN, Urogynecologist
Dr. Woods attended undergrad at Knox College in Galesburg, IL. Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine to complete his Medical Doctorate. His residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Dr. Woods is a board certified Ob/Gyn as well as a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG). Dr. Woods is board certified in the new subspecialty, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. One of his passions includes lobbying for women's health care policy in Washington D.C. He has won numerous honors for his work in medicine and in Washington including the John McCain Fellowship from the American College of Ob/Gyn, the ACOG Leadership Program in Women's Health Policy, as well as being picked to serve as a Fellow for the Department of Health and Human Services Primary Health Care Policy in Washington, D.C.
Jona Hutson, DNP | Certified Nurse Midwife
Jona Hutson earned a Doctorate in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University. Hutson is a Registered Nurse, Certified Nurse-Midwife, and is certified in advanced fetal monitoring. Jona is trained in the National Resuscitation Program, is a trained Forensic Nurse Examiner, and is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. During her 5 years as a Certified Nurse Midwife, Jona had the opportunity to work with and learn from a variety of women's healthcare providers and other CNMs. Hutson has been providing care in labor/delivery, postpartum, nursery, and gynecology services, for over 25 years.
