Where Can I Give?
General Fund
The General Fund provides financial resources to the current areas of greatest need. Donating to the General Fund allows us to supply SMC with the most efficient equipment and technology needs.
Endowment Fund
The Endowment Fund is a permanent fund that allows the Shenandoah Medical Center Foundation to build principal and use the interest from the fund to purchase life-saving equipment, as well as, fund necessities for the organization. Your gracious donations are a legacy gift that keeps on giving by positively impacting the Shenandoah Medical Center and its patients for decades to come.
Cancer Center Fund –The Robert S Holmes Family Cancer Center facility will continue providing the cancer care that Southwest Iowa has come to expect from Shenandoah Medical Center, including early detection, education, and diagnostic treatment. Your contribution will assist in providing transportation and medication assistance for high-risk cancer patients, welcome gifts for new patients with vital supplies to help them through treatment, and advancement in technology.
Phase III Building Project – A capital campaign has been established through the Foundation to update necessary departments and additional parking spots. This project will deconstruct the current EMS garage and living quarters and move them to a standalone building, including a 3-bay garage, training center and updated living quarters. In place of the old EMS garage, our radiology department will expand with a new, state-of-the-art MRI Machine. During this phase of the project, existing patient rooms will be expanded to create two brand new labor and delivery suites, plus additional office space for nursing leaders. Additionally, new offices and exam rooms will be constructed near the current ER entrance for our specialty clinic providers and their patients. Extra parking spaces will be added during the construction process around the building for staff and patients.
Field House Project – In partnership with the City, School and Private Donors, SMC plans to construct a 129,000 square foot wellness facility, behind our current medical facility. This Wellness Facility will be a community benefit and address needs all ages in our community face. Competition length track, volleyball, basketball, tennis and pickleball courts will be available to host middle/high school athletic competitions and have ample space for practice. An indoor aquatic center will have a competition length swimming pool and a lazy river for therapeutic services, plus community use when available. The fieldhouse will also include a short term childcare center and an Community Room to hold events!
Patient Assistance Fund – This fund is part of the General Fund but will be utilized solely for patients needing assistance with approved medical-related expenses.
Employee Assistance Fund – The Employee Assistance Fund (EAF) will evaluate applications and may extend financial aid to those who have little to no means of covering costs. Our goal is to help provide employees with some extra help during difficult times.
