Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Jennifer Black is a nurse practitioner specializing in Mental Health. Jennifer started out her healthcare career as a CNA, then obtained her LPN while going to school to become an RN. She has worked in Med-Surg, ICU, LTC, corrections, education, and administration. Jennifer went back to school for her Nurse Practitioner's license in 2013, and finished in 2016 from Chamberlain University. She then decided to go back to school for her psychiatric nurse practitioner license because she felt as though she was treating psychiatric patients without the proper training.

Jennifer was born in Florida, but raised all over the South. She went to 13 different schools while growing up! Jennifer has a big family of her own with her late husband, Gary. They have 5 children, and 6 grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, painting, singing and is very involved with her church.

Jennifer loves rural America, and isn't a fan of the speed of things in bigger towns and cities. She feels as though small town people are real and true. She also has a soft spot for vulnerable populations, and has plans for helping the homeless and downtrodden.
