Dr. Clyde Sullivan comes to SMC with 20+ year’s background in Cardiology and Internal Medicine that includes research into cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Sullivan is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, peripheral vascular interpretation, and cardiovascular computer tomography. He graduated from medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee. He completed his residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Medical Campus, Cleveland, Ohio and completed a fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
When speaking about his specific practice, Dr. Sullivan mentioned, “Heart disease remains the number one cause of death in the United States. My background includes performing research on cardiovascular disease earlier in my career. This medical specialty has become a favorite of mine for a long time. Having the ability to help people with heart disease is very rewarding.”
Dr. Sullivan and his family are excited to move to Shenandoah. In his free time, his family loves to spend time outdoors. He enjoys fishing, hiking, rafting, and camping.
Dr. Lundgren is originally from Shenandoah, Iowa and is excited to serve the community where he grew up. He helps take care of a range of heart failure patients, from patients with preserved ejection fraction to those in cardiogenic shock or needing advanced heart failure therapies. Dr. Lundgren's clinic provides specialized care, surgical consultations and recommendations for treatment while keeping patients close to home.

Dr. Akkad graduated medical school from University of Aleppo in 1990. He completed a residency in internal medicine in 1996 and fellowships in critical care, cardiology, and interventional cardiology finishing in 2002.
Dr. Akkad has been servicing the surrounding area through SMC for over 10 years. Dr. Akkad’s primary clinic is at Nebraska Medicine. Services include: aortic conditions, heart attack, heart failure, heart imaging services, heart valve care, high blood pressure, minimally invasive services, mitral valve regurgitation, pulmonary hypertension and vascular care.
